Earn more money from your battery by supporting the grid
Puredrive have partnered with Axle Energy (a trail blazing start-up) to help you earn more money from your battery. Get paid £2.10 per kWh of energy sent back to the grid!
The grid is under increasing strain and the Electricity System Operator (ESO) are looking to use residential batteries to support periods of high demand. This is done through the Demand Flexibility Service (DFS). DFS events currently occur once per week on average and present an opportunity for battery owners to generate significant payments.
The process is fully automated. We do the hard work and you can enjoy the savings.
Axle will receive signals from the ESO prior to a DFS event, allowing us to prepare, and then charge up your batteries. During the event, we will discharge your battery to the grid and you will earn at least £2.10 per kWh. Afterwards, your battery will return to its typical operation.
If you are on a dynamic tariff, we will take this into consideration and charge the battery at the cheapest possible period. Post event, our normal tariff integration software will kick back in to ensure your standard savings are uninterrupted.

Puredrive’s battery performance
Puredrive batteries were designed to operate Grid Services and Dynamic Tariffs. We designed the first battery in the UK to have 1C operation and a 10,000 cycle warranty, allowing you to maximise additional savings opportunities. 1C operation ensures you can discharge your battery at 5kW without losing any battery capacity. 10,000 cycles ensures you can charge and discharge your batteries 2.7 times per day within the 10 year warranty. Puredrive’s high performing battery saves you more money.
More information about ESO and DFS
During the winter months, the UK grid is significantly strained. The demand for energy is high, but the potential for solar generation is low. This means that the grid often has to rely upon dirty coal plants to provide enough power. To avoid this, the ESO have launched a scheme called the Demand Flexibility Service (DFS).
The DFS allows you to earn rewards for shifting electricity usage outside of peak demand hours. This allows the Electricity System Operator (ESO) to reduce demand through periods when margins are tight. This creates a more flexible electricity system that is green, clean and fair.

More information about DFS events
The DFS was launched during the winter of 2022/23, with over 1.6 million households and businesses taking part. They contributed approximately 350MW of flexibility to the ESO.
In winter 2023/24, a minimum of 14 events are guaranteed to occur. Events are expected to run for 60 to 90 minutes allowing you to discharge up to 7.5kWh of energy back to the grid per event. During each event, you will earn at least £2.10 per kWh you return to the grid relative to your normal usage.
